Romantic Serengeti & Zanzibar — 7-Day Honeymoon Safari

Welcome to Tanzania. A private transfer takes you from Kilimanjaro International Airport to a boutique lodge on the outskirts of Arusha, where your room has been prepared for your honeymoon.

Spend the afternoon resting by the pool or walking in the gardens, then enjoy a romantic welcome dinner with views of Mount Meru as your guide introduces the week ahead.

Drive two hours to Tarangire National Park for a day among its elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Your guide follows the Tarangire River, where elephants, buffalo and giraffe come to drink, and looks out for lions resting in the shade.

After a picnic lunch in the park, continue game viewing through the afternoon. As the sun goes down, your guide sets up a private sundowner at a lookout over the Rift Valley — cocktails, snacks and the landscape all to yourselves.

After an early breakfast, drive up through the Karatu highlands to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day among its wildlife — lion, elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and, with luck, black rhino — with a romantic picnic lunch on the crater floor.

Climb back to the rim in the late afternoon for the night at a lodge with views over the caldera, where dinner is served as the light fades over the crater.

After breakfast, drive west across the Ngorongoro highlands and down onto the Serengeti plains, stopping at the Olduvai Gorge viewpoint on the way. Game viewing begins as soon as you enter the park, and you reach the Four Seasons Safari Lodge in the heart of the Serengeti in time for lunch. Built on raised walkways, the lodge looks out over a waterhole where elephants regularly come to drink.

After an afternoon game drive across the plains, the lodge team prepares a private dinner in the bush, lit by lanterns and a campfire, with only the sounds of the night around you.

Rise before dawn for a hot-air balloon flight over the Serengeti. Drift above the plains as the sun comes up, watching for herds of wildebeest and zebra, giraffes and elephants below, then land for a champagne breakfast set up on the savanna.

After a restful middle of the day at the lodge, spend the afternoon on a game drive in big-cat territory, where your guide searches the kopjes and river valleys for lion prides, leopards and cheetahs.

End the day with a quiet sundowner on the plains.

After a final early game drive, your guide takes you to the Serengeti airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. A private transfer takes you to your boutique beach resort, where the rest of the day is yours to enjoy the white sand and warm water of the Indian Ocean.

In the late afternoon, board a traditional wooden dhow for a sunset cruise along the coast, with drinks on board as the sky turns orange and pink.

Enjoy a final morning at the resort with a couples' spa treatment, a swim or a walk along the beach. If you prefer, join an optional spice tour or a snorkelling trip on the reef before lunch.

In the afternoon, a private transfer takes you to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your onward flight.
