About this style

Walking Safari with Lomo

Step out of the vehicle and into the wild on a walking safari — the most intimate and exhilarating way to experience the African bush. Led by armed rangers and experienced walking guides, you track animals on foot, read footprints in the dust, learn about medicinal plants and feel the pulse of the savanna in a way no game drive can match.

In Tanzania, walking safaris are offered in selected areas such as Nyerere National Park, Ruaha, Tarangire, Arusha National Park and some private concessions, where the terrain and regulations allow safe walking. Walks range from gentle two-hour morning outings to multi-day fly-camping trips where you sleep under the stars.

Without engine noise, your senses sharpen: you hear the alarm call of a francolin, catch the scent of wild sage and notice dung beetles at work. Walking safaris combine beautifully with conventional game drives, adding a deeper understanding of how the bush works.
