Arusha National Park — Full-Day Wildlife & Canoe Safari

Experience Overview

Arusha National Park is one of Tanzania's most rewarding and least crowded parks — a compact wilderness that stretches from the Momella Lakes to the summit of Mount Meru, less than an hour's drive from Arusha. This full day combines a classic game drive with a canoe safari and a walk in the bush.

Forest, lakes and Mount Meru

Your game drive passes through montane forest where black-and-white colobus monkeys leap between the trees, and across open glades where giraffes, buffalo, zebra and warthogs graze. At the Momella Lakes, shallow alkaline lakes beneath the cone of Mount Meru, flamingos gather in good numbers at many times of year.

Three ways to explore

After a picnic lunch with views of the lakes, paddle a canoe on Small Momella Lake with a guide, passing waterbirds and, at a safe distance, hippos and buffalo on the shore. Then join an armed park ranger for a walking safari — one of the few parks in northern Tanzania where you can explore on foot — before returning to Arusha in the late afternoon.
