7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS TANZANIA

Kilimanjaro Machame Route — 7-Day Whiskey Trail

EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW

Safari Overview

The Machame Route is widely regarded as the most beautiful path to the summit of Kilimanjaro. Nicknamed the "Whiskey Route" for its greater challenge compared to Marangu, this seven-day itinerary provides superior acclimatisation through its "climb high, sleep low" profile, resulting in one of the highest summit success rates on the mountain.

From the Machame Gate, you'll ascend through a cathedral of moss-draped rainforest, emerging onto the Shira Plateau where the Western Breach towers above. The route traverses the spectacular Barranco Wall — a thrilling scramble rewarded with panoramic views of the Southern Icefields — before the gradual climb through the Karanga Valley to Barafu Base Camp.

Summit night takes you up through switchbacks under the Southern Cross, reaching Stella Point on the crater rim before the final triumphant walk to Uhuru Peak. Your professional mountain team — lead guide, assistants, porters, and private chef — ensures every detail is managed so you can focus entirely on the climb.
