Tarangire National Park is an elephant paradise — home to over 3,000 elephants, the largest concentration in northern Tanzania. Set against a backdrop of cathedral-sized baobab trees, some over 1,000 years old, Tarangire offers one of the most photogenic safari experiences in all of Africa.
Your day begins with an early-morning departure from Arusha, arriving at the park's main gate as the first golden light washes across the savanna. The morning drive follows the Tarangire River, where dry-season concentrations of wildlife are staggering — elephants, wildebeest, zebra, and giraffe all converge on the receding waters.
Midday brings a shaded picnic at one of the park's scenic viewpoints, with tree-dwelling pythons and colourful agama lizards for company. The afternoon game drive focuses on the park's renowned predator population: lion prides draped across kopjes, leopards in the branches of sausage trees, and the occasional wild dog sighting.
Return to Arusha by sunset, having experienced one of Tanzania's most underrated wildlife destinations in a single, unforgettable day.
