Erasto Gurty, manager director

Erasto started to work as an assistant head ranger for a luxury travel company in the western Serengeti.
A few years later Erasto moved to another luxury camp in the Serengeti, to join his wife who was working there, and to become a head ranger leading a team. His dream to have his own safari company and to be able to give back to the community, became reality a couple of years later. During one safari trip he met two safari guests, a Dutch couple, who shared the same passion and vision. They became friends and business partners and together set up Lomo Tanzania Safaris.

Erasto now manages Lomo Tanzania Safari, but also still leads safaris with the same passion as he did 10 years ago. He is also involved in training other guides. He just loves his job.

Erasto’s most memorable sightings:

    • African rock python strangle a thomson’s gazelle in the Serengeti, while jackals tried to steal the prey.
    • More than 200 buffaloes rescuing a buffalo from lions in the Ngorongoro Crater.
    • More than 50 hyenas moving around to steal a kill from lions.
    • The interaction between four dominant males fighting a young male.
  • A serval kill a dik-dik during a night safari in the Serengeti.
  • The first time he saw a pangolin in the Serengeti.
  • Being chased by a territorial male hippo while on a boat on the Rufiji River in Selous.
  • Being chased by the cape buffalo while watching lions on the top of Buffalo hill.

Away from the hectic bustle. This is delicious. We are well guided so well by Lomo. It was fantastic!
